September stay in Montebello

Hi all. We are a party of 4 adults from Australia staying in Montebello for 7 days in September 2019. We intend to do 2 days at Disney and 2 days at Universal Studios. Also have Santa Monica, Los Angeles and Hollywood on our to do list. We also love to bargain shop, Walmart, Outlet shops etc. We would welcome any advice on traffic traveling to and from Disney/Universal and also places to eat.We will have a rental car.

Why Montebello? It is a working class neighborhood not really close to anything.

Universal Studios hardly takes a single day.

Change your lodging, you'll spend hours upon hours stuck in traffic especially getting to Universal and Disney in the mornings.

Thanks for the feedback. To be honest we looked at the map and chose Montebello based on its location in between Los Angeles and Anaheim. We will need to rethink our lodging.

When you arrive, go to Anaheim for the days you intend to visit the parks. Then come to LA, staying in a central area, like Beverly Grove or Hollywood. You will find that getting up in the morning and doing something, rather than commuting, will give you more time to enjoy things, and that's usually a goal of mine, maximizing my valuable and short amount of vacation time. Don't spend it in a car on the road! Spend it here. And based on your plans, you may not need a rental car, which will save you more $$ for attractions (or to upgrade your hotel).

We can help you if you share your plans and your nightly hotel budget. And let us know if you are coming into LAX or another airport, please.

One more important point: in September you will ROAST out there!

Had college friend in Montebello. They moved from the city long ago to the Beach. Too hot and smoggy in Sept. and neighborhood changed. Move your lodgings closer to the beach after your time in Anaheim.

Universal takes about 5 hours, nothing like being in Disneyland ALL day!
