Are you all over 21 years of age? All three beach cities are fun and they all share the same stretch of beach in the bay.
Do you have a budget? Will you have a car? Do you plan to drive around LA or visit Disneyland?
In Manhattan Beach you can stay a block from the beach at The Sea View Inn. They have free parking for your car, free use of Strand cruisers to ride any portion of the 22 mile bike path along the ocean. There are 5 buildings from motel units to 2 bed apartments with kitchens.
There are many bars in the north end of MB, as well as near the pier area in down. Lots of people playing volleyball and surfers to the left of the pier. More parking available in MB.
Redondo Beach has motels and hotels on PCH, it's farther away from LA sites, the Crown Plaza is across from King's Harbor Marina. They have whale watching rides from the harbor, fresh seafood, and good nightlife too.
You didn't mention the middle city of Hermosa. They have a pedestrian plaza near the pier with bars and restaurants, that is crowded, but full of young people. From any of the two cities you could visit. There is a Comedy and Magic Club, and Jay Leno is there most Sunday nights. Most hotels like a Hampton Inn are a mile back from the beach.
Yeah we all around 30! I've heard about crown plaza in redondo, how is that one ? after the beach. we are going to stay in hollywood. but i was doubting about or either redondo or manhattan beach to stay. i know its not far from each other and it is easy to move around. if i would have to choose what will be a better choice?
The Sea View Inn is right in the heart of a casual beach town where you can relax on the sand or pool and be able to walk around in the evenings. They have accomodations for 5 in a room/apartment. Easy to get to Venice Beach along Vista del Mar or if you wanted to ride the free bikes along the bike path.
The Crown Plaza is not opposite the beach, but across from the Marina. They must advertise to travel agents, a lot of tourist have The boats make a pretty background. They're don't have rooms for 5 so you would have to get two rooms.
Based on your age and your icon (ultimate party) I would recommend Hermosa Beach (in between Manhattan & Redondo). Rent bikes during your stay to cruise between the cities during the day and Uber or cab around at night. If Hermosa doesn't work for you (try the Sea Sprite $$ or Beach House $$$$), then Redondo sounds like it might fit your group's needs a bit better.
If you plan to party and drink then definitely go to Hermosa. Manhattan Beach is quite upscale and has a low tolerance for all of that. Redondo is OK but the sidewalks roll up fairly early there. Hermosa has lots of centrally located bars and is considered the place to go if you want to "celebrate".
If you want live music and a great atmosphere try Saint Rocke - they book bands in most nights and the bar is amazing. Hennesey's is right next to the pier on the beach and is also a great bar.
