Hotel bookings

My husband and I are planning a road trip around Los Angeles, Yosemite and San Francisco in September. Can anyone advise whether it is better to book hotels from here in the UK or is it best to book over there?

Do you mean booking ahead of time rather than when you arrive into the U.S.? Absolutely.

If you mean using a UK third party company rather than booking direct then it's a case of price and conditions.

It is essential you make your Yosemite booking before you go. Do it now. You will already have missed the boat on the widest choice of accommodation, which can book up a year in advance.

Rule of thumb for me is if you know your schedule then book your accommodation. The only reason I wouldn't is if I wanted the freedom to change my plans.

Not to scare you, though, with L.A. and San Francisco you will always be able to find cheap accommodation last minute. If you can't, come back to me, I'll tell you where to go.
