Plakias prices

Any regular visitors to Plakias know whether the prices have gone up significantly this year? We went last year, loved it so much we're going again, but in light of all that's happened financially in Greece this year, we wondered whether we need to take more money in case things have gone up. Would love to hear from anyone who's been this summer what we should expect.

Prices are about the same and there is enough available. Look at Plakias suites or Labyrinth studios

When are you going skopelosjools? I've always found Plakias to be one of the cheaper Greek destinations. We'll be there in 6 weeks if you're going after that.

We also found Plakis to be reasonably priced & a little cheaper than other towns in Crete. ( July 2011).

Hello Skopelosjools

Some of the prices in the supermarkets have slightly gone up, like milk, butter, coffee, but it is not much. This summer a shop with organic prdoucts opened (in the little road where the laundry is), they have often some good offers, like organic tomatoes for 1.- € / kilo, and also the olive oil, wine and raki are cheap.

In case you rent a car: the price for gas/benzine is now around 1.75 / liter.

Have a nice holiday!

I haven't been here (in Plakias) again, but it seems that it is very reasonably priced. Super-market, tavernas seemed cheaper than other holiday destinations. If you want accommodation, check out stella apartments, it's 35 euros per night max and it is pretty decent. Apart from tavernas, there 2 or 3 "souvlatzidika" so you can eat a pita gyro with 2.50 :-) Hoped I was helpful.

Thank you all very much, that's been really helpful.

Sounds from what you're all saying, as though prices will still be pretty reasonable, which is what we found last year, but good to know. We have accommodation booked, so it will be a matter of buying food, drink etc. Will look out for the organic shop, sounds good, and the tavernas suggested.

Off tomorrow, all packed and ready, can't wait!

Just back from a wonderful holiday in Plakias, thought would update in case anyone interested. Stayed Dora Studios (via Olympic) - basic but fine for our needs and a good location.

Prices seemed much the same as last year, and Plakias does seem to be cheaper than a lot of other places - so we brought money back, which is always good. In fact, we found as we got into September that some at least of the tavernas were offering very good deals, so it was really reasonable to eat out and get some fantastic meals (can't comment on meat prices as don't eat but veggie dishes and even fish very good value)

Petrol was very expensive, and kept going up while we were there - over 1.80 euros in some places.

Thanks again to all who posted, hope those of you who are due to go to Plakias have a wonderful time - wish I was going back with you!
