Which month(s) to Easter Island and Patagonia?

Hi, we are planning for our re-visit to South America next year. This time we are going to see the Glaciers and Patagonia and also Easter Island. Which month is the best for our trip like this?

Thanks.

March is quieter in Patagonia. Also good for Easter Island (but avoid Easter).

We went in November to both places. Sunny and almost cool in EI, which made hiking pleasant. In Patagonia, we had all sorts of weather from sun to snow and also saw newly born guanaco, rhea chicks and thousands of lambs. Neither place was packed out by that stage.

Thanks both.

Allcorners: How about rain? And how cool was it in EI?

We actually prefer October/November over March/April if possible. And tickets from Toronto to South America is a lot cheaper in October than November. Wonder if October is not a good time at all.

Easter Island is slightly cooler in October. The rain is the same, on average 9 days in both months. Mixed weather in Patagonia but then it is at any time.

November is one of the busiest months in Easter Island so pick October if you can.

Forget statistics and weather forecasts. Both 2016 and 2017 Easter Island did receive only half of the precipitation it was supposed to. Not sure about the statistics but this year's been dry, as well.

We were in EI last week of Nov 2017. It was cool enough for me to wear a long sleeved cotton T shirt and long pants and not feel over heated, even when hiking. There was very light drizzle on and off for a couple of hours on one of our 4 days. And it was cold up on the crater edge at Orongo, largely due to the wind.

In Torres del Paine in the third week of November we had everything from sunny and mild (say 17 degrees) to snow.

Hi R C,

You went to EI twice and both in September.

I might forego Salta & Jujuy and go to Easter Island instead.

How was your experience there both food, alcohol, car rental if you rented a car, guided tours, people, hotel or Airbnb, and weather mid September?

Thank you in advance for all the pointers you can share!

Best,

Phil

I was on Easter island for 9 days during Easter 2018 and it was not too crowded to my surprise.
