Here's actuals for March last year and you certainly wouldn't have made it - three days of rain and only one fully clear sunny day. Not particularly high temperatures either.

On the other hand 2013 was better. Still three days with rain, one heavy, but six fully clear sunny days with temperatures up to 37C. More windy than normal however.

For what it's worth (virtually nothing!), here is the long term forecast for the next month. In the first two weeks of March 4 days with rain and 5 full sunny days.

You sound like you are planning to lie on the beach all day for a fortnight. If so Cape Town really isn't the place for you!

You can't guarantee the weather in Cape Town or Camps Bay even in the summer months. We were there from 15th Jan this year for a week and then back to the V&A Cape Town for 3 nights from 2nd Feb. The locals say that you can experience 4 seasons in one day.

On arrival in Camps Bay it was sunny but very windy and we experienced some dull days with gale force winds, cool evenings, plus lovely sunny days and warmer evenings. However, the wind always seemed to get up at night here, so not the best for a week in the sun. The resort was lovely and we did so many things, Cable Mountain, Robben Island, Cape of Good Hope etc. Not sure if I would go in March though. It is a quiet resort in the evenings, with lovely restaurants. No actual bars and not much in the way of shopping. We will go back but it is not worth the trip just to sunbathe as there is so much to do and see in SA.

See that TA didn't shorten two of the links properly. Either cut and paste or use the following shortened links :

March 2014 - http://tinyurl.com/weather-March-2014

March 2013 - http://tinyurl.com/weather-March-2013

If you want clear unbroken sunshine to lie on the beach - and warm water (this is the South Atlantic) - look at somewhere like the Seychelles or Mauritius - or even South Africa's Indian Ocean east coast. Although you are likely to get some rain here as well.

On the other hand, Cape Town and it's region offers so much more than a beach!

We always go in February and have generally had fantastic weather with just a couple of days of rain out of the 60 odd days we've been in the Cape Town area over the past 4 years. It has always been very windy and especially so in Camps Bay. It might also be worth mentioning that the sea is icy cold!
