Hi were coming next march to Cape Town from England do we need a visa any information would be appreciated.
You don't need to apply for anything in advance if your visit is for less than 3 months.
On landing, your passport will be stamped and a date 90 days from the date of arrival will be handwritten in the stamp which shows the maximum time you are entitled to stay in the country. You may be asked the length of your intended stay and/or to show evidence of a return airline booking.
This page makes it pretty clear:
The top list are the countries whose citizens need no visa at all, if their stay is 90 days or less.
The second list shows countries whose citizens can stay 30 days or less without a visa.
The third list is a conglomeration of stipulations.. and when I look at it, I don't understand why some of those countries are not on list #1 or list #2.Edited: 08 September 2013, 21:31
Don't forget to have 2 clear pages in your passport to be stamped upon entry into South Africa. It's a rule which has seen some travellers turned away if they don't have 2 clear pages.
Thank you for all your help its much appreciated. :-)
