Lake Havasu and dogs

Hello,

I have lived in AZ for over 14 years and we have not yet visited Lake Havasu. We would like to take a trip this fall with our three dogs.

Is the lake dog friendly? Are the hiking trails dog friendly?

Feedback is appreciated.

Thank you,

Wendy

Lake Havasu City, the lake and our trails are very dog friendly! We have two dog parks as well. Most restaurants, however, are not unless you're using outdoor seating. If you plan on staying in a hotel, call and ask as I don't know which ones allow dogs, if you're camping they are welcome in our many campgrounds/RV parks.

To add to the previous reply, I should mention that dogs are required to be on a leash on the trails. Also, if you go to the Lake Havasu City Convention & Visitors Bureau website (www.golakehavasu.com) you can find specific information about what hotels and/or restaurants are dog friendly.

Yes we camp at Lake Havasu SP with our 2 dogs & there are places along the lake shore that dogs can swim, play, etc - although they aren't allowed on the white sand beach. Lots of trails around & there is a dog park in town as well...

Lake Havasu City is dog friendly! While there are some areas where dogs are prohibited (Rotary Park, Beach at Windsor State Park for example) there are many other locations dogs are welcomed at the lake; and dogs are allowed on most hiking trails if leashed. Some restaurants are pet friendly too! Please go to our website at golakehavasu.com for more specifics.

It's great news that you are planning a visit to Lake Havasu City. I am sure you will enjoy our beautiful and friendly city! We have a great website (www.golakehavasu.com) where you can find comprehensive information about the town and everything it has to offer. We are, by all means, a dog-friendly place. Our city has a number of dog parks and beaches where they are welcome. We have dog-friendly restaurants, too; and we now have an inside dog park for those very hot days! Of course, there are some locations where dog access is restricted; so please watch signage about that. But if you are responsible dog owner and your dogs are well behaved, you should have no problems. Dogs can hike with you on any trail where they are allowed, but they are suppose to be leashed at all times. Many of the trails are on BLM land, and it would be good for your to contact them ahead of time to determine if there area any access restrictions. I highly recommend that you go to the website of the Lake Havasu City Convention & Visitors Bureau and following this link to the hiking section https://golakehavasu.com/activities/hiking/ where you will find links to the various hikes, maps, and guidelines. Even in the fall it can be quite warm here, so please take that into consideration before you head out with your dogs. We look forward to your visit! I have no doubt you will enjoy every minute you're here!
