Egypt and Jordan

Egypt and Jordan
Save

Hello, I’m from Vancouver and am considering a trip to Egypt and Jordan for 3-4 weeks in late April or May. I would like to see the ancient sights in these countries as well as doing some diving in Red Sea. I would like to get my advanced diving certification there and possibly do a liveaboard trip after.

I’ve read that booking a tour in Egypt is highly recommended, would it be worth booking it in advance or will I be fine to book it once I arrive at a hostel or hotel?

I am 27 and will be travelling solo. I am intending to fly to Prague afterwards.

Any tips would be great, and I would also like to ride a camel..

I was curious if there are any liveaboard boats that offer an advanced diving certification?

Regards

With regards to the last question, I think not.

I would do the dive course in Nuweiba where there is one dive centre and the course would be very much one on one. Plenty of camels about as well.

Failing that you could do it in Dahab or Sharm, and afterwards from Sharm take a liveaboard. Though not sure how welcoming they are to novice divers. Better to do the course in Nuweiba, do a few more dives there, then spend a few days in Dahab for more diving.

The advantage with Nuweiba and Dahab is their proximity to Jordan through Aqaba and also they have the likes of Pharaohs Island with the ruins of Salah el Deen Castle and St Catherine Monastery. Then off to Cairo, Luxor and Aswan, Abu Simbel. When you finish all that then head down to Marsa Alam for more diving and that.

If you still have time and money left ! :-)

Jordan, I was hoping you might get some more replies over here, but if not, it may be better to get recommendations for liveaboards with courses on a dive website or forum, rather than here. You could go to http://travel.padi.com and make a query, or look at liveaboards on that site which mention “Dive Courses Available.” Or go to a forum like scubaboard.com and ask in their Red Sea forum (or search for previous discussions in the subject).

Liveaboards with courses are out there. I just don’t have a particular one to recommend.

I just came back from 5 weeks in Egypt, Jordan and Israel.

I had two weeks of exploring Egypt by land and Nile valley, then I had one week of a live aboard in the Red sea from Marsa Alam. It was a great experience and I highly recommend it. Went to Jordan right after.
