Non-resort beach stay in Cook Islands

We're thinking of a trip over in August but would love a beach hut / bure/ villa style accommodation not tied to a resort so we can have a truly relaxing and quiet experience with out 2 young kids...eating out in real local restaurants etc.

Can you recommend anywhere??

Kia Orana inneedofcoffee, and welcome to our Cook Islands forum.

If you have a good search on this forum, you'll soon gain the imnpression that Rarotonga has many private rental homes not associated with a resort. But, our purpose-built resorts are lovely properties, with hostsw in the main going that extra distance to ensure guests stays are rewarding and their visits to sights and services are enjoyable.

Here are some websites to help your villa search -

You may wish to hire a vehicle to gain easier access to the island's dining spots - although our public bus service is very good considering our local population is small.

We found the Lagoon Lodges a perfect place to stay, with wonderful warm and hospitable staff and none of the hustle and bustle of the resorts. Perfect!

Read the reviews of Lagoon Lodges on Tripadvisor and you will not be disapointed.
