Is the only way to Corcovado Natl Park via boat?

I have read several comments that the boat ride down the Sierpe River and into the sea of Corcovado can be very scary if the waters are rough. Is there any other way to get to Corcovado National Park without going into the sea? Any way to fly near there?

There are three ways to get there, depending on where you're staying. In order from cheapest/longest to most expensive/shortest:

1) Hiking in via either the Los Patos or La Leona trails. You would need to base yourself on the Puerto Jimenez/Carate side of the Osa.

2) boating in. You can do this from Drake Bay, it takes about 90 minutes, the ride was a little rough at times but really not too bad in my opinion when we did it

3) you can charter a 4-person plane to fly to the Sirena air strip
