Where is the best place to hire a guide for the park.
Or can someone recommend one.
Also what time does the park open . We have a car.
The other entrance has always been and still is US$10 pp, I think, Unless ppl want to drive in, I think most want to enter on foot from Cahuita and exit from the other end, if they want to (can wait for a local bus back to Cahuita on the main Rd.) or turn back before 2 pm and walk back. Either way, it is about 8 km.
We entered the Puerto Vargas entrance because we wanted to walk the complete length of the park. And, in 2008, it was our first visit and we did not ask on TA about Cahuita entrance fee. Live and learn :-)) !
You might notice some changes to Cahuita park from the time you were there! We noticed changes between July 2016 and Aug. 2017. We no longer needed to cross through the creek with the water going above the knees! This yr, we just walked around it and continued along the trail, but it might be just luck/rainfall.
There is a bridge over the creek at the entrance
