We have always done all-inclusives in Cuba and know when to tip and how much. But we are heading to an all-inclusive in Playa Samara this year and understand the practice is different in Costa Rica. Can anyone fill us in?

No one is forced to tip at AI resorts, just tip/or not, whatever you want. We have been to many AI resorts and not everyone tips. We tip the same in Costa Rica as we do in Cuba and elsewhere. I agree, the tipping is getting out of hand in Cuba, they expect it, have travelled to other locations the last three years and have noticed the difference. Was hoping to return to Costa Rica again this year, it would have been our fourth time....but no such luck, resort not opened yet. Have a great time, travel around and take in the sights, you will love it.

Tip is not mandatory...is a TIP---in the good old days costaricans even refused the tips and were insulted by the action...now days and years later a tip can be expected...but of course is not a law or anythihing else...to avoid the situation we include 10% at every restaurant check...but not in hotesl...baot...trqansfers , etc

Some countries are famous to avoid tipping...some peopledo not like to tip...that is OK....tip if you like it...

Please enjoy our country tipping or not.
