We are going to Costa Rica in July. We have most breakfasts included in our hotels, but we are wondering how much money to set aside for lunch and dinner per person? I would be grateful for any advice.
If you stick to sodas, the small family run restaurants, you can do lunch and dinner for less than $20 pp/ day.
When going out to eat menu prices are usually listed in colones. The total bill then gets 13% tax and 10% service charge added to it. Some of the hotel restaurants we were at listed the prices in dollars and some also included the 23% tax in the price. Read the menu.
We ordered children's Fish and Chips at Adventure Inn for $9. The fish was fresh battered and delicious. It was our first night in Costa Rica and we arrived during a monsoon. No way were we going out.
Check with your hotel, sometimes they have a fancy restaurant but there is a bar menu available for eating poolside. We also ordered pizza and had leftovers the next day. Cafe Mediterraneano in Fortuna best pizza.
At least $ 15.00 per person…mostly at sodas….if you shop around can even be less
