Honeymoon in Darjeeling

Hey Guys

We are planning on a honeymoon trip to Darjeeling in the last week of june. We have a couple of questions

1. Does it rain a lot at that time ?

2. Which is the better place ? Elgin (We are fascinated by the Attic Room) or Windamere with regards to 1. View from the room 2. Cleanliness.

thanks,

Krish

Hi,

June end will be monsoon in Darjeeling, but the rain is not so heavy yet, with luck you can catch some dry days as well.

Windamere is good, but its very expensive, 4 times the cost of Elgin. I suggest you take a look at the Cedar Inn. Its in a lovely location, walkable to the Mall, but located on Jalapahar hill, in a lovely setting.

All 3 hotels, Elgin, Cedar Inn and Windamere are top of the class. You need not worry about cleanliness in any of them.

Windamere charges Rs. 9,900 for a double room with all meals and tea. Elgin takes Rs.7800 for the same inclusions as Windamere. Taxes extra for both the hotels. Frankly speaking, Mayfair is at the top of the Darjeeling's hotel list now.

Windamere will give you a superb view of the Himalayas -- the snow capped Kanchanjungha --from your room (provided the weather is clear). Elgin or Mayfair will give you only the valley view. All the above three , (and Cedar Inn too) are good hotels.

1. There might be small spells of rain, that will not affect the trip.

2. Sorry, What you want to mean by 'better place' ?
