If you want to get True Chennai thru lens following are the places to visit.

Kasimedu fishing harbour

T nagar

Sowcarpet

Church - Santhom / one in Cathedral road

Koyambedu vegetable / flower market

Temples - Kapaleswara / Partha sarathy / Asta lakshmi

Beaches - Marina / Besant Nagar ...all the way upto Mahabalipuram.

Will be good if you have someone speaking local language with you to visit some of the places mentioned above. If you take a cab, get a driver who can understand english & talk Tamil.

* Marina beach (afternoon / sunset)

* Egmore station and surroundings

* shanties and local quarters around the river

Hi

If you are into Culture, Heritage photgraphy and candid shots, you should try one of the cuture / heritage walks in the city. Try to get in touch with Story Trails (http://www.storytrails.in) for one of their Bazzar or Temple trails - a leisurely paced walk through the heart of cultural places, where you get to satisfy your interest of mingling with the locals, experience culture first hand all while getting some great photos. A similar one you may want to have as option to check out is the personalized walking tours by Chennai Magic (http://www.chennaimagic.com). The DE for India, Deepa is connected to this outfit and has had rave reviews in the past.

regards

Rajan
