Jaipur and Udaipur Trip during 2nd week of August 2012

Hello

We based out of Delhi and are planning for 4/5 days trip to Jaipur and Udaipur during 2nd week of August and need help from experts on forum here.

(1) Is 2nd Week of August a good time to visit Jaipur and Udaipur ?

(2) are 4/5 days enough to cover Jaipur and Udaipur and surrounding areas ?

(3) Is it advisable to book car from Delhi for the whole trip or Travel from Delhi - Jaipur - Udaipur via Train/Bus and get local car service at Jaipur and Udaipur ?

(4) Which top 2-3 car service companies should I contact ? Are there any good Jaipur based car service companies which will provide good service for Jaipur-Udaipur-Jaipur trip (we can manage Delhi-Jaipur-Delhi route via train/bus) ?

(5) Place of stay in Jaipur and Udaipur - I read some good reviews about Jaiwana Haveli in Udaipur, are there similar recommendations for hotels in Jaipur ? (looking for not so cheap and not so expensive options - neat, clean, convenient and not so expensive hotel options)

Looking forward to hear back on this forum for answers and tips.

Thanks

Sun Cal 2011

01- To visit Jaipur & Udaipur in August is good time but not the best time. Jaipur would be quite hot but not like Delhi. As Rajasthan is dry area so there is less chance to face rain.

02- 05 days are enough to visit Jaipur & Udaipur.

03- I do not suggest you to book car from Delhi for Jaipur & Udaipur , as it is time wasting and also expensive.

04- You should Book first – Delhi – Udaipur - Jaipur – Delhi Train –

Route – Day 01 Delhi – Udaipur overnight train

Day 02 Arrive morning- Udaipur – afternoon do sight seeing

Day 03 Udaipur – Jaipur

This day you may do Nagada – Ekling ji – Ranakpur Excursion – overnight train to Jaipur.

Day 04 Morning arrive Jaipur – Do sight –seeing

Day 05 Morning visit Jaipur – Evening take Shatabadi express to come back Delhi

05- There are many hotels in Jaipur to suite any budget , Jaiwana Haveli Category you can stay in Umaid Mahal / Diggi Palace etc.

HI SunCal

1 - You can do the trip by trains if you book now on www.irctc.co.in. Take the overnight train from Delhi to Udaipur, back from Udaipur to Jaipur by overnight train and then the Shatabdi from Jaipur to Delhi

2 - Two nights in Udaipur & 2 nights in Jaipur in addition to the train travel will be enough

3 & 4 - Trains will be best but may be sold out so book asap. You can get local taxis everywhere search for tour operator recommendations on the forums or ask your hotel to arrange. Remember the driving times and distances between Delhi/Jaipur & Jaipur/Udaipur are long and car will be much more costly than the trains. If you do not get train bookings, you could also consider RSRTC Volvo buses - https://www.rsrtcors.co.in/

4 - Jaiwana Haveli is nice in Udaipur and similar to Jagat Niwas (more expensive) or Kankarwa Haveli or Karohi Haveli all in the same area. In Jaipur Pearl Palace, Maya Niwas are similar

Have a great trip!
