Hi there,

I will be traveling to Southern India at the begining of Feb and I am wondering about traveling to Mysore from either Cochin or Calicut. Is there a direct overnight train or bus and how long does it take?

I do not see any direct Trains from Cochin to Mysore, however there are direct overnight trains around 12hrs journey from Cochin to Bangalore. From Bangalore to Mysore its 2-3hrs journey depending upon the train.

Ratna Prasad is correct-there are no direct trains from Mysore to either of the two cities you mention. You can easily go by bus there should be plenty of buses and the distance should be about5-6 hours max to Calicut-Cochin is much longer though. From Mysore you may want to take a bus to Telicherry which is on the rail line linking Cochin, though I dont have exact details about distance etc.
