We have 2 nights in Ooty, but I can't find an Ooty forum.
Can anyone tell me about about the toy train from Ooty to Coonoor?
How long does it take, do you need to buy tickets in advance?
Is it possible to visit tea plantations? Can we arrange these things through our hotel (Fortune).
Any other tips or ideas? Thanks.
I dont think you need to take tkts in advance-Ooty -Coonoor should be about 30 minutes max.. Fortune should definitely be able to help you in all these matters.

Is there some other place we could go to so we could spend longer on the train?

There are two ways of getting into and out of Ooty. One through Karnataka (Mysore - Bandipur - Gudalur/Masinagudi - Ooty) or the other through Tamil Nadu (Coimbatore - Mettupalayam - Coonoor - Ooty)
The Toy train operates to and from Mettupalayam to Ooty and Coonoor is midway to these places.
So, if you are either entering from Tamil Nadu or exiting out through the Tamil Nadu route, you can take a complete journey on the Toy Train. Hope this helps . . . .
