In Delhi markets in different areas have different weekly offs. Some of the popular tourist markets and their off-days are:

Chandni Chowk (Old/North Delhi) and Khan Market (Central) - closed on Sunday

Karol Bagh (Central), Kamla Nagar (North), South Extension, Lajpat Nagar, Defence Colony and Sarojini Nagar (all South) - closed on Monday

Greater Kailash, Green Park, Hauz Khas Village - closed on Tuesday.

Connaught Place used to have its weekly off on Sundays but since it has a mnay visitors pouring in on the weekends, a lot of shops remain open.

Dilli Haat (the Crafts Bazaar in South Delhi) is open on all days.

Many of the markets (or streets within them)mentioned above specialise in selling different wares - from textiles to books to plastic flowers to spices to old motor parts! So if you are looking for something specific - ask, and I will be happy to direct you to the market of your interest.

For beads check out Kinari bazaar (whole street of beads, fancy tapes and laces, embroidered ribbons and other facintaing tinsel) and Turqman Gate in Old Delhi.

You will come across many Indian jewellery shops in Chandni chowk, but perhaps the best markets for Costume jewellery would be Karol bagh (Central), Kamla nagar (North) and lajpat nagar (South).

For old jewellery pieces you will have to hunt the lanes of Dariba Kalan in Chandni chowk. Else try "Shivhari jewellers" and "Chand begun ke jewels" both in Green park (South).
