If I wanted a private, English speaking, guide for 3 days and use the metro with my guide as transportation, what would be a fair amount to pay?

Thanks for replies!

You can discuss with him before hand. As per Ministry of Tourism charges are Rs. 900/- for full day. But some people charge more and you may find some who charge less.

Among the guides I have seen, the price ranges from Rs 750 to Rs 5000 per day depending on quality of the guide as well as the city in which they are operating. At the highest end, they are specialists or historians, or very high-quality personalised guides for the luxury market. At the lower end, they are inexperienced local guides with basic knowledge and not enough language skills or subject matter depth.

Do you need a guide or just an escort so that you feel secured abt traveling with someone? If you just need an escort any travel guide would be fine. for things you seem to be needing , I think just abt any guide will be able to do this for you. Price range from rs.750 to 1000 a day. Ofcourse as said above -- quality varies .

Thanks for the info. Now I have a idea of price ranges when asking for a guide/escort at my hotel. Actually, I think I do need someone who is more like half guide, half escort and speaks OK English.... or one day get just a escort and another day a more professioal guide. I mainly don't want to get lost and feel safe WHERE EVER I want to go. I want to be shown how to use the metro, find the best place to get my money exchanged.... etc. Someone with just general knowledge of the tourist attractions would be fine because I am not a big tourist/history buff.

Thanks again!
