Useful Rainfall Map and monsoon clarifier

There always seems to be some dispute over when areas of Thailand, particularly the southern areas are in monsoon - I found this useful tool on Travelfish which shows you the average rainfalls, temperatures etc for each area in Thailand:

http://www.travelfish.org/weather_fish.php

As I have always maintained, although I am often told I am wrong, the west coast has most rain between April and October and on the east coast it is between September/October and December (although the seas stay rough beyond December).

No, you are absolutely right :)

From March through to end October Gulf area has less rain thatn the Andaman side, always have been :) but I often say October is not a good month any beach / island areas.

e.g

Graph for Koh Samui :

www.tmd.go.th/en/province_stat.php…

Graph for Phuket:

www.tmd.go.th/en/province_stat.php…

All pretty clear.

Where people go of course is entirely up to personal choice, and some places in the world can be beautiful in the rain !

But, I am sure there are plenty who simply do not know about the differences and perhaps end up somewhere with rough seas and not great weather not knowing that on the 'other side' seas are calm and great sunshine.
