restaurants and bars near Sunset Cove

My husband and three boys ages 17,13 &11 are going to Ko Phangan next July. Sunset Cove looks really great but just wanted to know if there was many restaurants and bars within walking distance. We are not into Full Moon parties but don't want to be restricted in choices for food. Any advice on this or other options of accommodation would be much appreciated.

Hi there,

we just got back from sunset cove, as it was low season it was very very quiet!!

there were about 4-5 other couples at the resort. Was very relaxing though.. there are a few restaurants on the beach and the pirates bar near by,, also there are a few shops only a few minutes walk from the resort. mini mart, massage etc.. we took a taxi into thong sala and haad rin.

Cheers,

Izzy

Hi Izzy

Thanks for your response, do you think my kids would be bored staying at Sunset Cove I am now looking at staying 4 nights at Sunset Cove and maybe another 4 on another part on the island. How did you get to the island have looked at flights but the flight from bangkok to Ko Samui is nearly going to cost as much as the flights from aust to k.l. Am now looking at the overnight train from Bangkok. Your thoughts/opinions would be much appreciated.

Cheers

You could go further up the west coast and stay at Haad Yao or Haad Salad for the remaining 4 days. Both have nice beaches good for swimming and with several restaurants. The two Thong Nai Pan beaches on the east side are great as well, but you will have to cross the island via a terrible dirt road to get there.

We went to Sunset Cove for dinner some months ago. It was in high season, but the resort and surroundings were very quiet. Ideal as a relaxing getaway for couples, imo.

Hi,

We stayed at Haad Yao Bayview Resort. It was not perfect, but we do not regret staying there and would choose the same place again if we decide to go back to Haad Yao beach. I think some of the bad reviews are unfair and also a bit suspicious as the members have signed in with only one contribution.

I just wrote a review and will post a message or pm you when it is on and you can read it. Guess it will take a day or so.

Cheers,

often when somone posts a negative review with very little other forum input it's because they feel strongly about the quality of stay they had with a place to take the time to leave a review , doesn't mean it's suspicious. Reviews are highly subjective and may not agree with your experience, different staff , guests and management all change and so do expectations , different strokes for different folks.
