Sheraton Moorea

Thank you so much for your responses (especially Sully). It has helped me to decide that I need to book the Sheraton Moorea. Now I am only left to decide upon the room catagory. I was hoping you would, once again, share your opinions.

I have pricing for 3 catagories 1.) beach bungalow 2.) OWB

3.) Garden bungalow. The price for the OWB and beach bungalow are basically the same. The garden bugalow would save us almost $700(USD), is it worth the $700 to do the garden bungalow?

I am following advice and sticking with spending 5 nights at Le Meridien- Bora Bora in an OWB. Therfore, I am wondering if the OWB would loose its appeal if that is all we stayed in.

Sully mentioned that the garden and beach bungalows at the Sheraton were well appointed. Can we be a bit more specific?

Personally I was leaning toward the beach bungalow. Did anyone feel as though the foot traffic at the beach bungalows here was a factor? I would like some privacy, not total seclusion, but some privacy. And did you feel as though the view from the beach bungalow was nice. I wouldn't want to spend my time staring at the back of Overwater Bungalows and barely seeing water or horizon.

Please keep in mind...we are starwood members, so no matter what catagory we book there is a chance of a free upgrade if it is available.

Your advice got me through the hard part...picking the resort. I am hoping that you can further simplify it for me. Please share your thoughts???? Thanks so much!!!!! DDW-O

Hi DD!

Here I am :)

Let's see now. Let me first say that the Sheraton is an excellent choice in Moorea! You will love the beach and snorkeling there!

As far as their beach bungalows go they are nice and are staggered forward and back alittle, but indeed the OW are out on the dock and can be seen. It's not like everything is on top of each other there though! The Spa bungalows are also on the beach. The most private is usually overwater, those being in three catagories. Regular, Horizon, Premium Horizon, the later being the most private. Confused yet? Okay, here's more :) Sounds to me you need overwater, and no, I have never met anyone who thought they lost their appeal. These things are never simple, and being a Starwood member will sometimes give an upgrade if available, sometimes not. In regard to price, this is a direct reflection of your expectations, and it sounds to me like you like nice. So go for the overwater, when will you ever do this again!? Just bear in mind you may be pricing the regular overwater which are not far out over the water, hence the pricing being the same as beach. But hey, there's always that upgrade from the regular OW to the Horizon! Horizon OW and Premium have the best views with no one in front of you. Best to check with your tahiti specialist or professional travel agent on these choices. As far as elaboration on the garden bungalow interiors, lots of the modern comforts, a/c, minibar, private terrace, exotic woods, surrounded by gorgeous gardens. If the cost is an issue, then by all means save the $$ and hope for an upgrade! Otherwise, go wild! I hope this hasn't confused you further! I wish I could tell you to spend the extra, but worth is such a personal choice! Let me know what you decide!

sunny regards,

shully

Sully,

Thank you for responding to me again.

I am still undecided. The beach bungalow and the superior Garden bungalows aren't even shown on the hotel map. I have searched the internet and cannot find exterior pictures of bch or spr. grd bungalows . Have you seen either of them? I am imaging that both catogories are closest to the beach. I am wondering what the view is from the surerior garden bungalow.

You mentioned that the beach bungalows are staggered. That's good to know. Do you happen to know if they have any outdoor privacy? Are they cute from the front? Do they have chaise lounges outside?

Do you have any idea as to where I could look to find photos of the beach bungalows and sup. garden bngalows?

I need to book this trip already. The stress and aggrevation are really getting to me. My head is spinning. I can't thank you enough for tking time to chat with me. It's very nice of you:) Thanks!!!!!!!

I hope this is your answer

go on trip advisor

go to moorea

go to hotels

go to virtual tour

it takes you to an expedia website

you get a map of the resort

from there you can click on various cameras

you can then get a tour of the various bungalows

and other areas of the hotel

hope this helps, if you want even more details I think the only way to get it is to email to the hotel direct.

Midon1,

Touche

At least do this first trip with all you have dreamt for ( and can afford of course ) then make it a lifetime goal to return and follow the less travelled paths.

7. Re: Sheraton Moorea

OK Guys, please bare with me. We were thinking that we should stay on land in Moorea (my husband thoughts, not mine). So my questions then becomes...which land catagory to pick. I have reviewed the Expedia virtual map of the resort. However, that map only calls out the location and provides a vitual tour for the OWB and the garden bungalows. I was also unable to find a written room catagory breakdown. This would have helped somewhat because then I would have at least been able to visualize based on their description. Without either a physical photo/virtual tour and/or a written description, I am left to imagine or guess which is something I am uncomfortable doing, especially considering the money and time involved.

I guess it boils down to these questions...

Are the beach bungalows 'true beach' bungalows? Meaning are they actually located right on the sand (I don't want to walk accross sidewalks and landscaping to make it to the beach)? Are they very close in proximity to the water? Is there a lot of foot traffic in front of the beach bungalow? Does the beach bungalow off an element of privacy from the general public ( I am not so much worried about privacy from a neighbor on each side)? If I were to pay for the beach bungalow I want to know that it is very close to the water, that my view would consist of water, not the backside of 100 OWB or the backside of 100 people who set up camp in front of me.

If I were to go with the standard garden bungalows in comparison to the deluxe garden bungalows...what is the difference? Location? Exterior ammenities? Please elaborate?

My big issue being that I would have liked to view exterior photos/ and room catagory breakdowns/descriptions.

In other words, If the beach bungalow is what I dream of it being then I will book it. If not, then I would book a garden, which leads me to what are the differences between the garden and superior garden? If they are basically the same except for location then I would probably opt to save the money and go for the basic garden instead of the superior garden.

Once again, I am thankful for all input. Finding you guys has made me feel confident that I will book properly. Thanks, DDW-O

9. Re: Sheraton Moorea

If you expect the Jersey shore beach's forget it.

Some of the bungalow face the man made beach.

Other bungalows face each other..

There is a path that people walk on that goes by the beach front bungalows no privacy.

I do recall people writeing in to complain about bugs, gekkos, sand in the bungalows.

We had no problem staying in OWB at the Sheraton or Bora Pearl.

The two of us sitting on the deck of the OWB with a cup of coffee

watching the sun rise it doesnt get any better.
