Best family friendly trips from Makarska

We are staying in a villa in Makarska for May half term with our two children aged 3 and 6. We want to plan 2-3 day excursions to see a little of the area but want to pick the most family friendly of these. Has anyone been with young children and could advise on the suitability of;

Half day trip to Biokovo Mountain

day trip to Krka waterfalls national park

day trip to Plitce national park

Boat trip to Hvar or Bol and any particularly family friendly options?

anything else in area

Would be great to hear some advice from those with young families who have visited before.

Emma

Biokovo could well take almost a full day, when you both drive to Sv Jure peak and after leaving the car by the mountain home climb to Vosac peak above Makarska, then have a lunch at the Vrata Biokova restaurant.

I would advise an excursion to the Kravice falls across the borded in Bosnia:

Visit to Omis and Cetina canyon (rafting, zip line)

And a stop at the Radmanove Mlinice restaurant in the canyon:

I like the idea of Bol on Brac.

Bol is a good recommendation. Krka is closer than Plitvice and the kids can swim there. There is a small water park at Solaris Resort near Sibenik they would love, the beach there is quite nice as well. http://www.aquapark-dalmatia.com/prices/

There is a new amusement park that just opened last year near Biograd Na Moru (close to Zadar) http://funparkmirnovec.com/en/

Its about 1 1/2 hours to Sibenik or Skradin. I think these are both good family friendly options. We have done similar trips several times with our kids.

Last year (June) I saw a this big old boat https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UvkDFl-1UKw packed with tourists departing Makarska, saw it again a few days later at Korcula. It stopped there for a couple of hours before heading back.

Hi Emma

I am looking at going to Makarska or further up also in the May holiday next year with our 6 yr old, and would love to know what you thought of the place, whether it was busy at that time, or if you would recommend another area?

I have been trawling through forums of Croatia and come to land on this area because it looks beautiful and is in a good distance to get to Split, national park and a boat trip to Brac/Hvar. I'm just worried it is going to be busy even in May hols, and if it is too hectic. We like lots of restaurants, chilling with a drink, but we don't stay out late so won't want to stay somewhere too noisy at night.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Thank you

Suzanne
