Day Trips from Hvar

Hello!

My husband and I are staying at Amfora in Hvar for 4 nights the first week in September. Are there any day trips that you would recommend? Do we need to go through a tour guide, or are there catamarans/ferries that travel in the morning and bring you back in the evening? Are there boat rentals that we could rent ourselves for the day? What are some things that we shouldn't miss??

Any help is much appreciated!!

You could get the Krilo catamaran in the AM to Korcula Town, or keep going on it to Pomena on island Mljet.

Wonderful! Is there a catamaran to take you back to Hvar in the late afternoon/evening?

Yes, the Krilo returns from both Mljet and Korcula https:/…Sailing_schedule_DUBROVNIK.pdf

Personally, I would recommend Mljet, since you have an old town at Hvar. Mljet doesn't have an old town as such but is dotted with villages throughout the island. From Pomena, it is about 15 minute walk to the lakes. There, you can rent kayaks and bikes. You also get the boat over to the monastery, which is over 800y/o. On the boat coming back from that monastery, you can get off at Pristaniste and maybe walk to Polace, the path is signposted/about 30 minutes, where there are old ruins of a 1500 year old palace https://www.mljettravel.com/polace/ You can either walk or bike back to Pomena to get the catamaran back to Hvar, or get a taxi http://www.mljet.hr/?l=eng
