Any suggestions for a private transfer? Can the journey be done in one day be a driver?
Yes, it certainly can be done in the one day by using your own privately hired vehicle/taxi and others before you have done just that. Doing it using bus/van connections could be very tricky.
But the better questions is should it be done in one day? The answer to this is a matter for your personal determination. You are, using current road conditions, as a minimum, going to be driving SHV to PNH 4.5 hours. Then you have to get through PNH and drive to BTB which is going to take you another 4 hours as a minimum and all of this without rest, food and comfort stops for you and your driver. You can sleep during the journey but how would you feel if your driver dropped off to sleep?
Yes, certainly, it is doable and many have done it.
It's up to you to weigh up the pros and cons and decide if it is for you.
Personally, I'd break my journey in PNH overnight and have a leisurely drive to BTB in the morning and probably making short stops at Kg Chhnang and Pursat along the way.
Best regards. Ian/Angkorlad
Further to what Ian has advised, given the distance and probability of hold ups in traffic jams through PP, this would mean that part of the journey would be at night. None of us who visit Cambodia would opt to travel in the Cambodian countryside at night due to the very real danger of doing so. You would be best advised to split the journey and travel each leg in daylight hours.
You can catch a plane to Siem Reap about an 1hr or so. Then can catch a tuk tuk into town from the airport and we got a private car for $60USD To Battambang about 2hrs30mins
Phoebe's suggestion is much safer, quicker and more sensible. However the cost of taxi from SR to BB quoted was really quite high. Each time I've done this by taxi it's only been around $35 - $40 at the most.Edited: 03 December 2017, 17:05
