Travel by bus to Porto Seguro

Hello trip advisor family,

I will be traveling to Brazil late July to mid Aug. Starting in Rio and ending in Bahia.

Was wondering how long will the bus ride be from Rio to Porto Seguero? Then Porto Seguero to Trancosco. Porto Seguero to Morro de Sao Paulo?

Thanks :)

In August, you ought to be able to get a fairly good fare to fly from Rio to Porto Seguro, maybe around the price of the bus. Take an overnight semi-leito sleeper bus if you decide to go by bus.

Porto Seguro to Trancoso is a local bus. It's only about 13km or so.

There is an overnight sleeper bus that goes from Porto Seguro to Salvador.

If you want to go to Morro, you would take buses from Porto Seguro to Valenca, and then a boat to Morro.

The bus us from Arraial d'Ajuda, across the river from Porto Seguro takes around 50 minutes to Trancoso. You catch it from a stop next to where you debark from the balsa ( ferry).

As #1 says it's as cheap if not cheaper to fly from Rio to Porto Seguro, which would be at least a 12 hour + bus trip. If you have a look at the CVC website, you'll often find promotional deals for flights and several nights accomodation, plus transfers that are cheaper than the return airfare alone.

Hello,

We will be flying into Porto Seguro around 11:45 on the upcoming Monday. How exactly do we get to Trancoso? Do I need to take a bus from Airport to Arraial D'ajuda? A Taxi? and then a boat? Then another bus to Trancoso?

A bit confused here. If someone can provide me with clarity and recommendation (should I take a taxi all the way?) that would be greatly appreciated

Thanks!

Take a taxi down from the airport to the ferry (balsa) that crosses the river to Arraial d'Ajuda. On the other side, juts after you alight from the balsa you will see the bus stop for the bus to Trancoso.
