Budget Hotel Near Airport

I can see 2 which are pretty cheap-Nichols Hotel and Manila Airport Hotel. First stay will be one night arriving around midnight on CX terminal 1 and leaving next morning to Palawan on Cebu Pacific at 0830. Second stay we would have plenty of time to get there but the morning flight is at 0600 CX terminal 1 so I think this one has to be the Manila Airport Hotel. We will have only carry on backpacks.

Which of the 2 hotels is more convenient to get to Cebu Pacific in terminal 3 early in the morning?

I wish we could afford the Marriott but we can't.

The distance of both hotels to Cebu Pacific's Terminal 3 is quite the same, maybe one is just nearer by just a hundred meters. At 3, 5 or even 6AM there will be plenty of empty taxis (your only transportation option during that time) so getting one would not be a problem. No need to look for taxis as they will be the ones who will find you during that time. You'll be in Terminal 3 in 10 mins. maximum as the traffic would be light even during weekdays.

If you want to save money, maybe you want to consider Sogo Hotel Pasay Rotunda branch. It is also about 10-15 mins from Terminal 1 & 3. They are offering rooms for 6, 12 and the usual overnight so you will save a lot if you only opt to stay less for several hours. I think it's 1,000 pesos ($22) or less for 12hrs stay, 6hrs stay is of course cheaper. Their rooms are clean and Sogo is a well known hotel/motel chain chain as you would find in their web site that they have many branches.

There would be similar hotels/motels walking distance from Sogo Hotel which could be cheaper. Just ask any taxi drivers to take you to "drive inn motels near Pasay Rotunda." There is a stigma in this country about motels because they are offering just a few hours stay but I would not mind staying in those provided that the room is clean and if I only need to sleep for a few hours and take a shower.

You might want to consider this http://www.parkbb.com.ph/location.php for 1,500 pesos overnight. It would be just also 15 mins maximum to Terminal 3 and even Terminal 1.

Don't let the nearness or location of those accommodations be your main concern as you won't encounter a traffic jam before 6AM.

This post is probably a good one to have listed under FAQ on Manila as this question gets brought up frequently.

I agree with Sogo as well.....and its close...but as pointed out, there is little traffic at that time and you have other options if you wish....

One other option is the family-run chain of three hotels near WalterMart at the edge of Makati: Saint Illian's Inn, Franchise One Hotel and Makati International Inn.

With the new Skyway (road) they will only be 10 - 12 minutes from the airport early in the morning.

I have stayed at Franchise One and reviewed it on TA.

If you do stay at one of these, it is essential to print out the map and take it with you to show the taxi driver as many do not know where these hotels are. Stating 'near WalterMart Makati' helps.

By the way, upon arrival at any Manila Airport (NAIA) terminal, look for the yellow-and-red airport taxis with their P70 flagfall as they are cheaper than the white 'coupon' taxis (the latter not to be confused with white P30 flagfall metered taxis).

Tommo, I have added this forum thread to TA's top Manila questions as you are correct. With the growth in Filipino tourism, this question will be asked more and more.

Thanks! I checked out the websites, I don't think the Sogo will work as we will be staying a Saturday night and they don't have online reservations and I would think the "short stay" crowd might be making full use of this hotel on a Saturday night.

Nichols is cheaper if you book it on https://book.asiatravel.com/reservation.aspx… it's PHP 1687 vs PHP 1977 on their own site.

Park Bed and Breakfast is a good option at PHP 1500 bookable online but I can't find it on the Google map.

I also stumbled onto this one http://www.granprixeconotels-pasay.com/ppc/ from surfing links and looking for maps and reciews, it's right on EDSA so should be easy for a taxi to find and starts at PHP 1455.

Yup, Nichols hotel is a viable option to you.

If I may add, for those who want to avail of these "drive-inn" hotels/motels in Pasay for their 6 hrs or 12 hrs stay you don't really have to book in advance by email or calling them directly. All you have to do is to show up with your taxi and if there's an available room you will be ushered in, if they are fully booked (because of Valentine's Day or whatever) then just ask your taxi to go to the next one which would be just seconds away. Choosing a hotel/motel in that area is like choosing which casino in Las Vegas would you want to play, you just have a number of choices. All of them charges less than 1,000 pesos for short stays and all are within 10-15 mins to Terminal 3 (which is also in Pasay) during your intended time.

I haven't stayed in one of those but I know there are at least 20 of them within 1 km. radius of Sogo. I will try to list their names and address when I go in that area soon. I bet all of the taxi drivers at the airport knows them as the area is very popular for people requiring short stays.

There is also the Youth Hostel in Baclaran, close to the airport and the terminus of one of Manila's three elevated rail lines. I have never stayed there but I have visited: a busy, noisy and unkempt part of Manila, but nonetheless, the hostel may be satisfactory if you BYO your own toilet paper:
