To my best of knowledge every Airline is supposed to check the Passport # which is part of their CheckIn process.
Why don't you try calling them - or if you can get on to their web page, just go to MANAGE BOOKING. You can easily make changes to details, including passport changes.
We just amended our booking and added seat requests a couple of days ago. It was easy.

Isn't it optional to give the passportnumber?
I didn't give mine when I booked the last time and it wasn't any problem
Hi dont worry when we booked flights with aa one girl didnt have a passport so i wrote dont have one no problems when we went away .So dont stress just turn up with passort and ticket sherylw
From the AA website when you book and then your passport expires...
"You can book your flight first by using your identification card number or the number of your current passport. After you've obtained your new passport, kindly contact our call centre to update your passport information into your booking."
I would use this same process to correct the passport number.
no worries coz i gave a forgot that my wife uses her maiden name in her passport. the checkin counter staff gladly change her ticket name to the same one on the passport. but if you are bothered then try to pop an email to clarify.
Hi orchidluv,
I've just changed from IC number to Passport number through the net. No problem at all.
Ami
thanks everybody. i finally managed to get into their website and changed the passport number, i had the wrong password and user id! for some strange reason though, the expiry dates on all our passports were wrong! so had to change that too!
Should be OK if there is a matching photo in the passport.
