Travel Plans

Hi All

We are trying to plan our holiday (left it a bit late) and could use your advice.

We (2 adults and 2 children aged 8 & 5) arrive in KL in 2 days. Plan is to stay for 7 nights and then go to Cebu/Manila for 10 nights and return to KL for a final 3 nights.

So far we have put the last 3 night stay in KL down to shopping, and have the following for the first 7 nights:

Day 1 - Arrive at 8am and spend the day chilling, dinner in Somewhere in the evening.

Day 2 - relax during the day and firefly sin the evening (stop if to see monkeys) and seafood restaurant. What is the best way there and back? Can we just take a crap or is it best to book a car/driver?

Day 3 - Batu Caves (assume we can just take a Grab there and back?) is there a need for a guide?

Day 4 - elephants. Again is it best to book a driver/car? What is the best time of day to go?

Day 5 - Kidzania / China Town in the evening

Day 6 - Little India late afternoon/evening and stay there for dinner. Hoping to visit both locations.

Day 7 - chill and take evening flight.

Is there anything we are missing that the kids would enjoy? We are staying at the Shangri-La so expect to do the towers at some point (hopefully we can fit it in) and will generally go out locally for lunch/dinner etc.

If it’s not obvious already, we want a relaxed time, but want to introduce the kids to a little more than shopping malls/hotel pool.

Any/all comments or thoughts welcome.

Thanks

Dr J

Day 3 - Batu Caves (assume we can just take a Grab there and back?) is there a need for a guide?

-No guide required. 30 minutes grab taxi ride will get your family there.

Day 4 - elephants. Again is it best to book a driver/car? What is the best time of day to go?

-Usually you can do a full day tour for Kuala Gandah Elephant sanctuary with Batu Caves or with the Firefly visit. So maybe you want to consider that cause this location do not have good public transport connection.

Day 5 - Kidzania / China Town in the evening.

-Kidzania is in Mutiara damansara. In this location there is also a ice skating ring. Nearby maybe 10 minutes grab taxi ride away you have the 1 Utama Shopping Mall. There you have flow rider and air rider kid activity and also Camp 5 rock climbing studio. Can be considered extended activities for your kids. You can have dinner in 1 Utama too. Plenty of choices.

Day 6 - Little India late afternoon/evening and stay there for dinner. Hoping to visit both locations.

-Maybe move your Chinatown to here and also visit Central Market. Little India won't take too much of your time. Chinatown is a 10 minutes grab taxi ride away from Little India.

Day 7 - chill and take evening flight.

Your children might enjoy the bird park - http://www.klbirdpark.com/ - and/or the butterfly park - http://www.klbutterflypark.com/ - which are only a short Grab/taxi ride from your hotel.

Yes, there is too much empty time in your schedule, unless you prefer it that way. Batu Caves then Firefly that night. Elephant sanctuary and another activity if not too tired Central Market, Little India and Chinatown at night. Sunway Lagoon can take one whole day if you like the water park, nearer to Kidzania location. You probably want to group those things together since they are geographically close. Maybe take the HOHO bus to get a feel of the sites. Don't forget to save space for durian, mangosteen and rambutan fruits.

Hi

Thank you for the input - I had completely forgotten about Sunway and the tip about the ice rink is perfect. For Sunway is Grab OK to go and come back?

Our schedule is quite light as we want to go back home refreshed and also because we have have done most of the usual things as a couple but not been back for a while or with kids.

We also left out china town, central market etc. Leaving it to the last 3 nights when we return to KL before our onward journey home. Although I suspect we will end up here with all the extra time we have.

Out of interest is there a favourite bubble tea place that is populate in KL? It’s my new favourite drink!

Thanks

We use Grab to and from Sunway. The taxi drivers at Sunway are best avoided as they like to rip off tourists.

Never done Kidzania for a day before - kids are normally done after 4 hours! They have plenty of KZ’s form various trips so if it keeps them entertained for a entire day all the better. We can do ice skating another day :)

Thanks
