Changes to KTM Komuter train service to Batu Caves

Hi everyone,

Due to track upgrading works between KL Sentral and Putra stations, starting today (3 February 2018) there is no direct KTM Komuter train service between KL Sentral and Batu Caves.

Trains from Batu Caves will end at Sentul KTM station and return to Batu Caves. Free shuttle buses are provided at Sentul KTM station to KL Sentral as well as Sentul LRT station on the Ampang/Sri Petaling Line. The shuttle bus pickup location at KL Sentral is at the basement bus station, next to the buses to KLIA2.

Trains on the Batu Caves - Sentul section run at 20 minutes interval during peak hours and 40 minutes during off-peak hours. The shuttle bus runs at 20-30 minutes interval subject to road traffic conditions.

Please see KTM website for diagrams and timetables:

Travel safe,

Josh

Does this also affect the service to Tanjung Malim and do you know how long this will be in place?

SJSTRINGER_74, trains from Port Klang still run through to Tanjung Malim via KL Sentral. The latest timetable shows trains running on the Port Klang - Tanjung Malim route at intervals of 30-45 minutes.

This is the second change in schedule in about a month. The news report announcing the previous change in December stated that the arrangement would be in place until 31 August this year, but as shown by the latest changes KTM can still make adjustments as needed. The current track works are part of the Klang Valley Double Track upgrading project which is scheduled for completion in November 2019.

5. Re: Changes to KTM Komuter train service to Batu Caves

Hi Josh,

To avail this free shuttle from KL Sentral to Sentul do we need to buy Batu Caves KTM tickets at KL Sentral? Or we can just board the bus and after reaching Sentul we can buy Batu Caves tickets?

Please let me know around how much time it may take to Sentul.

In our travel plan we will visit Batu Caves from KL Sentral on 7 Mar 2018. We will be staying in a hotel at KL Sentral.

BTW, thanks a lot for the information.

TIA.

Neel

Neel_Ratan09, you should not need to buy tickets before boarding the free shuttle bus at KL Sentral. KTM is also providing free shuttle bus service from Sentul LRT station to Sentul KTM station, and it is not possible to buy KTM tickets on the LRT network. You can buy tickets to Batu Caves at Sentul KTM station.

The trip from KL Sentral to Sentul takes around 15-20 minutes in smooth traffic.

8. Re: Changes to KTM Komuter train service to Batu Caves

Just to understand a bit more on this change. We are also due to visit Batu Caves on 3rd or 4th May 2018, and we planned to go to Batu caves from Kl Sentral by KTM Train.

If I understood this change correctly, instead of borading KTM Kommuter Train from KL Sentral to Batu caves directly, we board the FREE Shuttle at KL Sentral that will drop us at KTM Sentul station; and then we buy ticket to Batu Caves from Sentul KTM Station. On return, we will have to board train at Batu Caves KTM Station upto Sentul KTm Station, and then at Sentul KTM, we will board a FREE Shuttle service to reach KL Sentral.

Is my understanding correct?

Yes the free shuttle bus is at basement level , same as Aerobus & the Genting buses... your understanding is correct...

From Stesen Sentral , u take the escalator down that goes down 1 level.

If u are not sure , go to the KTM Komuter Customer Service counter & ask them to point u to the "bus for Batu Caves" .

Once u reach bottom of the escalator , u-turn back on the left side & will see a few rapidkl buses..

If u go straight , that is the place for Aerobus & the Genting bus as well as their ticket counters..

Go to the little table in front of the rapidkl buses , to ask for 'Bus to Sentul KTM Station" & they will point it out to u...

The running LED signs on the bus will indicate " KL Sentral - Sentul " ...

2 days ago, i waited for approx 10 minutes for this free bus to be full.

Travel duration to Sentul KTM Station is approz 10 ~ 15 minutes..

Once u reach Sentul KTM Station , follow those who looks like tourists , to 1 level up , queue up to buy your RM2.30 Train ticket...

Batu Caves is the last station & while u disembark , others will board the train to travel back to Sentul KTM Station...

Do the whole thing in reverse to travel back back from Batu Caves...

Cheers
