Our cruise ship is there on the 16 17 18 June just wondered how safe it will be an should we book any tours
It's Celtic v Rangers on the 16th.
It's Poland v Serbia on the 18th.
If I were you, I'd stay at home in Surrey and get Jeeves to keep you topped up in Harvey's Bristol Cream!
Way too subtle, some people might actually take it 100% seriously)
I hope not. It's just a joke!
...not to mention the Dress Circle at Mariinsky II, where fist-fights often break out between the rival supporters of Wagner & Verdi...
But, seriously, to the OP - there are few safer places in the world today, at any hour of the day or night, than the historical center of St Petersburg.
You're going to be okay Malcolm. Go ahead and book your tours.
The football venue is about 5-6 km as the crow flies from the historical and cultural centre of Saint Petersburg. 60,000+ fans will quickly be diluted among the 5-6 million residents of the city. As vinteui1 said, Saint Petersburg is one of the safest cities (any time of the day) in the world. And if none of that has an impact, rest assured that the pure beauty of the city, along with the respectful and reserved nature of its residents will subdue the most rabid fans. The environment being much more powerful that its inhabitants. This will become plainly obvious once you hit the street.
