Crowd during and around New Years time in Kuching

Hi,

I'm booked to travel to Kuching for 5 days on either sides of the New years eve.

I am aware that the weather can be wet during then, but hows the tourist crowd generally during that time? I expect Kuching not to be a big party town and thus should I expect sparse crowds or any at all? Hows the new years eve celebrated generally? Are there any fireworks or good places to hangout during then?

Hey Sandeep.

A bit more detail and I can help fill in the blanks for you.

Dates?

Kuching is a busy 'quiet' town if that makes sense. Population is close to 1M. But the city is very spread out. You can party and there are plenty of bars. Be warned, alcohol is expensive as it is taxed heavily by the g'ment.
