1) Bako National Park (search this forum) - try and stay over for a couple of nights - wildlife is most active at dawn & dusk.

2) can't help.

3) LOTS of things to see and do - too many to write up. That is why it is good to have a driver/guide, Have a search of the forum. Also, difficult to answer as we don't know what you like, age, children, budget etc etc.

4) Kuching to the places you mention - about 40 minutes if you know the roads - give it an hour as you are not familiar. All the places you mention (ex the village) are south of Kuching - some close (sort of) together.

Question 2) car rental.

If it's cheap, it's not good.

Renting cars in Kuching must be from a reputable multi-national company. I've rented cheap and twice it wasn't good. In my case, the cars were poorly maintained, broken, dented, no paperwork to sign, broken tail pipe dragging on the road. When they give you a car like that, there's only one, what to say after you have prepaid?

I can't remember the name of the company.

With a 10 year old - bring a friend and take them to the waterpark at Samariang. Go on a weekday.

waterpark at Samariang - is quite new - and I think parts of it are still under construction. There are very few reviews - check out facebook.

How long will you be staying in Kuching? Helps with suggestions.

Flight arrival time - flight departure time?

Check out Malaysian holidays that may clash with your visit - if there is a holiday (or weekend), attractions are MUCH busier.
