Hi,

Im new in Malaysia and I would like to get to Cherating. I have heard the I need to go to Kuantan first, I plan on taking a bus as it is cheaper than plane. I would like to know the road conditions(is the road zigzag?) I get dizzy easily on zigzagging roads.

thanks

The highways from KL to Kuantan are not particularly windy so you should be fine. I too get car sick if the road's bad.

Road from Kuantan to Cherating's good, fairly straight. If I remember correctly, it's about 25km apart.

Monsoon on the East Coast has already started and its been very wet. Dont know where you plan to stay, but some places are closed

There has been some flooding , and there is a prediction that the weather is going to get bad over the next couple of weeks. Lots of rain last night and early morning.

Having said all that you dont say when you plan to visit!?.

oh!! thanks for the information. i plan to visit this weekend. but with the weather conditions, i might postpone it till january. what do you think?

I have 1 more year here in malaysia, so time is not really an issue. except for the changing of season

if you plan for now or Jan its going to be more of the same I'm afraid. But nothings that cut and dried really. I could be ok this weekend or not,

You can wait until say end March April time it will be better. Personally I would not like to be travelling on a bus on the bendy bit as I call it out of KL but once on the toll road its straight through to Kuantan.

That drive though is not pleasant even in a car during monsoon.

Some flights have been a little late coming/going from the airport due to the weather as well

got it. is late march to to early april also the start of summer here? Im from the Philippines by the way, Im not sure if the seasons(months) here are the same.

I just wanna try to see the surf spot in cherating actually. I can go when the weather is better as I am not really familiar with the area for now. Better be safe than sorry.

If you are not pushed for a date then April onwards until around beg Nov you will be fine. Better weather and choice of accommodation all round.

lots of rain again last night but today very hot and sunny.....may rain this afternoon.

Last years monsoon was not wet at all very different to this years (and the year before..), so you never know!

have a great time when you do decide to visit.

If its surfing you are after, the monsoon season of november to march is the best time to visit as only then are the waves big enough. if you can bear with the rain and flooding that is.

other times of the year, the waves aren't really big enough for surfing.
