Air Aia - has anyone flown Melbourne to KL or into Penang?

We are looking at travel from Melbourne to either KL or straight to Penang. Air Asia flights seem to be way cheaper than mMalaysian or Singapore Airlines. So far th feedback that I have had has been quite negative feom a lot of travellers. Is it worth paying extra for a non-budget airline?

I am travelling in June 2009, 2 adults, 1 teenager and 1 child.

PLease assist in making this decison

Not MLB to KL but we have flown many times with AA from the Goldie to KL.

All our flights, touch wood have been on time. Sure they are a budget airline so don't expect any extras thrown in. You pay for bottled water etc. However at $350 return during their specials we certainly have nothing to complain about.

AA are point to point carriers so you will have to disembark, collect luggage and clear customs at KL before catching another flight on to Penang.

Happy & safe travels
