Beaches

We have read a lot about there being nice unspoiled beaches around Krabi, we are wondering if someone can reccommend which island we should go to? We are a young couple and would love to get to see some nice beaches and maybe do some kayaking. We usually stay in budget hotels. If anyone can reccommend something for us we would apprecaite it, thanks!

What most people do is stay in or close to Ao Nang and take longtail boats to different nearby islands every day. Most of these islands do not have accommodation. Ao Nang is the local tourist center, kind of like a mini-Patong. If you want to stay on an island with unspoiled beaches, some choices are:

Koh Jum – easily reached for such an unspoiled place, golden/grey sand rather than white if that is important to you. Koh Siboya is the neighboring island

Koh Yao Noi – beautiful with the Phang Nga steep cliffs, rather undeveloped, good for kayaking, biking… Koh Yao Yai is the big sister island, closer to Phuket.

Koh Lao Liang is in Trang, south of Krabi. This is a true unspoiled paradise with a single charming Eco-resort. Trang has much fewer tourists than Krabi so it is easier to find unspoiled islands. Krabi is more beautiful with the steep carst cliffs.
