Krabi, Phi Phi island or canoeing on other islands/caves

We have booked 2 nights staying in a hotel near Klong Muang

Beach in December.

1st and 2nd days - stay in Krabi

3rd day - not sure stay in Krabi again or go to Phi Phi island and stay there for 1 night

4th day - catch a late flight from Phuket airport to Bangkok

If we decide to visit Phi Phi island and stay there for 1 night, should we catch a ferry to Phuket and go to the Phuket airport by taxi

or

catch a ferry back to krabi, and then go to Phuket airport by taxi

As there are so much to do and visit other islands near Krabi.

Can anyone sugguest what is the best to go on the last day on the 3rd and 4th day before going to Phuket airport for the late flight.

You're trying to squeeze quite a lot into a short schedule. The Krabi - Phi Phi - Phuket ferry transfers will eat into that available time a fair amount. Might be a better idea to do a Phi Phi day trip from your hotel in Klong Muang and then use Krabi as a base to do any other activities you're interested in.

From there you can take a mini bus to Phuket airport for your flight which takes about 2.5 hours.

If you do decide to stay in Phi Phi it would be best to get the ferry direct to Phuket and then get a taxi or mini bus to the airport. It will take you a good part of the day though.

Thanks Sarcasmatron,

Probably, we should stay in Krabi as a base. then go to Phi Phi day trip.

But then we will miss a chance to visit Phuket.

How much does it cost for tax/minivan from Klong Muang to Phuket airport as it takes about 2.5 hours?

A private Taxi or air con minibus will be about 2'500 Baht for door to door service. There are cheaper options (a shared air con minibus or state bus) but if you are going to the airport I wouldn't take the risk on a slower more convoluted journey.

Yes it is safe to drive around in Krabi. Car rental is around 1'200 Baht a day for a small family saloon with air con..
