Ko Kho Khao taxi

Hi

I have read a lot about how to get over to Ko Kho Khao-either with your own transport or by long tail boat.

If you go over without a car and use taxis is it common to hire them for a few hours so you can go from place to place, or are they plentiful enough you can catch one to a location, then flag a different one for the next leg?

Is there a chance you are going to be charged some massive amount because the taxis know that you have no other transport option?

If you hire for a few hours, any idea what you might pay?

Thank you

You can book a taxi when you get off the ferry at the pier. Negotiate car and driver for a given period or to pick you up from a certain destination at a certain time. KKK is a small island with destinations mainly on the west side and mainly beaches. Taxis don't patrol looking for passengers.

Thanks. Any idea of what you might expect to pay for a few hours of taxi hire?

Sorry, no. I take my hire car across but it should be no different than those in and around Khao Lak. Boss of Cheaper than Taxis will quote you for a car plus driver from Khao Lak and across on to KKK as will no doubt local taxis near where you are staying. Combing KKK with a visit to the main Tsunami Memorial near the ferry pier at Ban Nam Khem which overlooks KKK is worth considering.
