Proximity of restaurants to Moracea and Sensimar

We stayed in Khao Lak for the first time in February this year and are considering returning February 2017. We previously stayed at the Ramada and enjoyed the beach dining and also the selection of restaurants in Bang Niang, which were just a short walk from the hotel along a few quiet roads near to the hotel. This year we are considering staying on Sunset beach at the Moracea or the Sensimar. What are the dining options apart from the hotels themselves? On researching it would seem that the dining options are in the town of Bang La On which is a 10 min walk along the busy main road. From recollection of being in Bang Niang earlier this year, the main road is extremely busy with traffic and somehow this does not seem so attractive.

Can anyone suggest a good quality hotel with the ease of dining options within a short walk but without the main road? Or am I just making this more of a problem than it needs to be?

Any advise would be much appreciated.

Most of the restaurants in Khao Lak are in Bang La On either side of the highway that runs all the way through Khao Lak. There is only one independent beach restaurant on Sunset Beach just up from the Moracea. The highway is busy but as long as you keep to the sidewalk and take care when crossing you have a big choice.

As Alan said most of the good restaurants in Bang La On line the highway. In 7 trips to KL we have never found the highway a problem traffic wise.

Immediately across from Sensimar/Moracea is Everyday Lazyhouse which continually rates top ten and also Walkers Inn, which serves great Thai & western food. Any of the restaurants down the centre of Bang La On are only a ten minute walk and its maybe 15 or so minutes to the northern end where you have a great selection including Smile, Orchid Café, Dee Café, Tiffy's, The Rice Barn and the newly relocated Spinach & Peter Bar. You can grab a 'song taew' for 50-100 baht if its too far to walk.

Agree with everything already said. We stayed at Sensimar last February - good selection of nearby restaurants (the hotel was good value as well & is right by the beach) - no problems with the highway as long as you use your common sense. We shall be staying there again (courtesy of Scoopon) end of October & into November. February 2017 we're giving The Leaf Oceanside a try - also close to many restaurants. Enjoy your trip.
