Long holiday - Visa????

I am directing this mostly at Arandora, but there may be others who are also lucky enough to enjoy long holidays in Thailand. What kind of visa do you come in with, to allow you to stay 5 months?Do you have to do any border runs? i have been looking at tourist visas, and even they seem to only last 90 days. Many thanks for any replies.

The maximum length of stay as a tourist without leaving the country is 90 days on a Non Imm visa but eligibility depends on personal circumstances. This Travellers Article gives comprehensive information but you should look at your own country's Thai Embassy or Consulate website also https:/…Visa.Information.html

If you're not officially (as per rules) retiring, marrying, working, or studying Thai immigration would categorise you as a tourist, so look at those options: Single-entry gets you up to 60+30 days with extension, then go get another one in a neighbouring country and repeat, or look at the multiple-entry tourist visa (METV) which is valid for six months of stay at 60-day intervals with optional 30-day extensions.
