Phucket to Khao Lak

We are going to Phuket at the end of July. We want to have a day trip to Khao Lak National Park to ride the elephants. How far is this from Patong? Thanks

All the elephant treks in Khao Lak involve riding on a seat mounted on the elephants back which is regarded as cruel and unethical. There are places on Phuket to do this if that is really what you want to do.However, there is also the Siam Safari Elephant Conservation Project on Phuket which is regarded as ethical. See www.siamsafari.com/elephant-conservation/

You can interact with elephants in an ethical way (i.e. no riding) in Khao Sok National Park which is further and the Phang Nga Elephant Park which is about same distance as to Khao Lak. See thailand.net.au/ethical-elephant-encounters-…

why do people still continue to want to ride elephants?? The media has been awash with the cruelty these poor animals are subjected too. If you mean the Khao Sok national park then I can assure you it is absolutely wonderful without the elephants. Please do your research before you embark on any tourist trap that involves animals.
