Snorkeling

we had to cancel our dive trip because we both have colds and unsure we can equalize our ears :(

So just wondering is there is any places that are t too far away that we can go snorkeling like do a half day/ 3/4 day trip?

Thanks

Do you mean now? There are no in shore reefs along the Khao Lak coastline or nearby off shore diving or snorkel sites for short trips. Similans or Koh Tachai day tours (open until 15th May) are nearest taking into account transfer time to and from departure pier.

there is an island, forgetful me, cant remember the name, which is a short put put boat ride away from the main beach area in khao lak

we snorkelled there a few years back

it was about 1500 baht each.

snorkelling was well, pretty boring. but was nice to get in the water.

it was about a 3-4 hour trip

other wise you are off to the main areas, surins especially for snorkelling, but is a FULL day trip

I didn't mention "Secret Island" as one tour operator called it to promote trips there because it failed because of any worthwhile underseas experience which is what I presume the OP is looking for. Nice sail along the coast though to its location just off Tab Lamu. Local longboats still go there mainly from northern end of Nang Thong Beach/southern end of Bang Niang Beach.

So Alan how do you organise one on these local longtails to this "Secret Island"

We would want from northern end of Nang Thong Beach

There are several beach restaurants on the strip from Peter Bar (north of the Sands) to the creek and a couple on the other side on Bang Niang Beach that offer longtail boat tours. Just enquire there.
