New year in Khao Lak?

Hi there, just planning a week some where sunny and beautiful for new year and someone suggested Khao Lak, which I've never heard of before. I had been thinking Krabi area, Rahlei bay or Phi Phi type place but open to new places. Any advice for a relaxed beach experience over new year? Much appreciated.

Day time New Year's Eve and New Year's Day are relaxed. New Year's Eve culminates with beach parties and spectacular firework displays at Midnight heralding in the New Year particularly on Bang Niang and Nang Thong Beaches.

Hi New Year eve day is the same in every resort relaxing and sun-blessed, But new year night if you would like to party spend it in Phuket, Yes there are fireworks but don't expect a spectacular show like London or other cities around the world

Have you spent New Year in Khao Lak? If so, what beach? Just wondering what your criteria for a " relaxed beach experience over new year" are.

That's fine, we don't need a big celebration at all, it's just that we're going to be there at that time so just checking what it's going to be like. Thank you.

Hi, we've never been to Khao Lak before at all. Been to Rahlei, and Phi Phi, and Samui and Samet... Thought they were all beautiful, Samui a bit too busy, and too many shops...

Thanks,.

Kao Lake, At the moment is what most of Thailand was 20_25years ago, but over the last 5-8years is starting to get busy and another 5-8years will start to be like other busy beach resorts, The first time I visited Kao Lake the only people there apart from the Thai were the Chinese mining

Khao Lake??? "At the moment is what most of Thailand was 20_25years ago," - that's what makes it so good! :-)

Yes, Can you remember when Phuket had next to know hotels and Khao Lak was just a mining town, and now its getting bigger and bigger
