I know the weather question is done to death but ....

We are looking at doing last two weeks in April but want the best weather possible.

Which side of Thailand is best this time of year?

Thanks guys :-)

Last two weeks in April are the end of the Dry Season so you should expect lots of sun, especially mornings to early afternoon, very hot, high humidity with potential thunderstorms in the afternoon, any rain heavy but clearing quickly. Not too dissimilar from Samui where best weather is May to August. See comparative information at holiday-weather.com/khao_lak/averages/april/

Thanks for the reply. Is it still good for snorkling at this time of year or will the sea be too rough?

There is no snorkeling from the beach in Khao Lak to speak of because of lack of inshore reefs and constant movement of the ocean. Snorkel trips go daily to the Similan Islands, Koh Tachai and the Surin Islands, the latter being further north having less visitors and better marine experience. Whilst these remain open until 15th May, towards the end of April as the season changes the sea becomes rougher and potentially dangerous resulting in cancelled trips. This more likely though in May.
