Has much changed ?

Hi,

We went to khoa lak 4-5 years ago and stayed at the Ramada. Was wondering if much has changed ? It was all pretty quite has this changed much ? Are there more restaurants, bars & shops. We were there Febuary so peak thinking of going back Febuary 2016 and was wondering what to expect.

Looking at the La Flora this time.

This is the latest map of Bang Niang. Well it was the latest as at last December but there have been further developments since and more going on http://www.t3x.de/khaolak/BangNiangKarte.htm

It is the most rapidly developing area but since the highway was made 4 lanes all the way thhrough with side access roads on either side, it has become more of a town with the local community appearing in simple restaurants and shops along the highway. The beach road down from the 711, which has been rebuilt a bit further back and that previouslt very scruffy area up to the entrance of the market cleaned up. There are now traffic lights at the junction of the beach road which makes it safer. The beach road is now nicknamed Food Street because of the number and mix of restaurants with different cuisines. There is a large piazza, called Il Bello, half way down housing an Italian restaurant with dining alfresco in front behind an ornate fountain with changing colours at night. Not to everyone's taste but I believe it adds to Bang Niang's individuality and appeal. The road up from the La Flora is now develpoed with restaurants, bars and a few shops all the way up to the junction opposite Pinoccio's. More people stay in Bang Niang in the evening to dine or return earlier from Bang La On to the several cocktail bars with Happy Hour lasting all evening.

I hope it is not too lively! ;-)

Thanks Andora for the great reply. We was hoping that it would be a bit livelier than last time as it was very quite.

Looking at the La Flora ? Do you think this is a good choice ?

Thanks

As with the Ramada it is a great location and more Thai style. The only complaints I read about mainly are that the loungers at the beach are too close together but I think that applies at the Ramada too. Perhaps latest TA reviews at tripadvisor.co.uk/…REVIEWS are a good indication.
