Doubt you can take a Thai registered car into Myanmar, you should check very carefully especially with regard to insurance which may not cover you there anyway.
Correct to all above.
Looks like our best option, believe a longboat taxi is the quickest way, thanks for the advice
There's plenty of places you could visit in your car without leaving the country.
Victoria Point, where the ferry from Ranong arrives is hardly the most picturesque place or representative of Myanmar. You'd need to much further than that to make it worthwhile and for than an overnight stay. As an alternative you can get a catamaran across from the private Grand Andaman Resort (formerly Andaman Club Resort) located on Thahtay Kyun Island which is a small island with only this 5* resort on it in the middle of the estuary in Myanmar waters . As well as enjoying the resort's facilities, including a Spa and 18 hole golf course, you can take trips across to the mainland. There is a Thai Immigration Office on the Ranong mainland where you leave your car and get stamped out and back in on your return and a Myanmar Immigration point on the island where you get stamped in on arrival and out on departure.
