Pullman beach restaurants.

Hello,

We have visited khao lak twice now staying at the sands and ramada. We will be coming back with our two kids and were thinking of staying at the Pullman. Are there any beach restaurants close by to the hotel or is it very isolated.

Thankyou for any information.

Hi, not really isolated anymore, there are several beach restaurants along the beach with a handful near the entrance. There are now several along the highway heading towards the beyond resort. The main townships are about 20 minutes away by shuttle or taxi.

To the left on the beach is the long established Rim Lay, then around the headland (taking great care not to go around if the tide is in) are three more on White Sand Beach with another leading up to the Boatyard on Coconut Beach at the far end. Then to the right, you have the Beyond Resort with its own open to non-residents beach restaurant, another before the creek then, depending on time of visit more than a dozen plus bars and massage places across the creek leading up to the Mai Khao Lak. These in addition to the ones on the highway mentioned by NB1.

Also depends on when ausiam is going back to Khao Lak...??...What's the chances of the afore mentioned restaurants being open in September...??...Heard so much about the Boatyard but every time we've been(low season),it's been closed....

Are you still where Will...??..One must assume that because Phuket has been so slow that numbers in Khao Lak are also at an all time low....??...

Cocotang

The Boatyard usually re-opens like most beach front restaurants affected by the weather and beach conditions in mid-October. Having said that the Boatyard remained open longer this year than at any time since it first opened after the Tsunami and no doubt will open earlier if conditions and customers allow. The relocated ones on both the northern end of Pak Weeb Beach between the Beyond and the Mai Resorts have been able to remain open. I think your assumption about numbers in Khao Lak being at an all time low is incorrect. The circumstances that have lead to a decline in numbers and popularity of Phuket are not present in Khao Lak. As you know they are entirely different locations with different appeal. There have been over the past few years increasing number of Low Season visitors to Khao Lak from your part of the World before the military government's beach clean up campaign, the failure to address the high taxi prices and jet ski Mafia, affected Phuket's popularity. What has happened in Khao Lak is that visitors in the Low Season have been less spread about among the resorts mainly due to the larger resorts offering very low prices and "coupon" deals.

From previous seasons I don't think there will be too many there but the promotions and heavy discounts may have attracted other guests. I'm sure you will enjoy the nearby surf though!

We stayed at Pullman last week and it was beautiful. Rim lay was closed with no sign of when it would reopen. We went along the beach past Beyond and there were many but not all restaurants open. We had drinks at many but found the restaurant at the front of Beyond the best tasting but there were some restaurants with happy hour 99 baht drinks as well. We were also able to book tours at the restaurants. We had a package for Pullman as the food there is beautiful but expensive.
