best hotel/location for us?

thinking about visiting khao lak in december and need advice on hotels and locations pleae.

couple in 40's, like quiet days sunbathing (need nice pool as well as beach) and enjoy eating out in casual restaurants at night. enjoy beach restaurants etc. been to karon beach which was too busy for us so looking for a choice of eating places without the level of karon beach.

many thanks

None of Khao Lak's 9 beaches spread over 25km of coastline is anything like Karon in terms of commercialism and busyness. They are also IMO all more beautiful in their outlook and surroundings, most having retained their natural surroundings.

and maps of the various locations at tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowTopic-g297914-i10908-k…

The two main tiwnships with most restaurants, bars and shops with accommodation beachfront, just back from it or a little way up on or near the highway are Bang La On and Bang Niang.

If you could indicate what type of accommodation (hotel or bungalow) and standard you are looking for, beachfront it near to it and your budget it will help to make suggestions for you.

Have a look at the Pullman Hotel & also beyond Resort both are next door to each other & are lovely beachfront hotels. As mentioned Khao Lat is not busy like Karon or Patong - very quite & not so developed.
